Spinal Decompression Therapy

What is spinal decompression?

Spinal decompression is a non-surgical, noninvasive treatment that eases pain and stiffness in your back and neck. Dr. Keys uses advanced technology to decompress your spine and stretch it in certain ways. Spinal decompression is a state-of-the-art technique that uses traction, or gentle stretching, to treat pain.

What does spinal decompression therapy treat?

Once Dr. Keys assesses your condition, he determines if you’re a candidate for spinal decompression therapy, which treats the following:

  • Spinal stenosis

  • Herniated or bulging discs

  • Lower back pain

  • Neck pain

  • Facet syndrome

  • Sciatica

  • Piriformis syndrome

  • Radicular pain

  • Stiffness in spine

Spinal decompression therapy delivers a gentle stretching of the spine, joints, and muscles in the back, hips, and thighs. Dr. Keys’ treatment produces beneficial results for your condition.

How does spinal decompression therapy work?

Dr. Keys uses a Triton DTS® 6e Traction unit, which is a computerized table that you lie on. He monitors the procedure as the cable pulls on specific parts of your spine in a safe, controlled manner, creating a vacuum-like effect in your discs. The displaced material in your back returns to its normal position, allowing the discs to stop irritating the nerves, which helps the pain disappear.

Spinal decompression restores the spine to a proper position by bringing alignment, healing cells, increased healing fluid to your vertebrae and discs. Once your discs are able to re-hydrate and your vertebra can get some space the inflammation begins to dissipate. Circulation gets to the area, and pressure is released, allowing blood to flow, which promotes healing. In addition, after treatment, your vertebrae will most likely keep that added space, allowing your condition to heal correctly.

Spinal decompression is an excellent way to relieve pain without having to undergo surgery.

Is spinal decompression therapy safe?

You should only receive spinal decompression from a professional. Dr. Keys is an expert in his field and knows how to administer spinal decompression to bring relief to your back and neck safely. If you have concerns about safety, Dr. Keys answers all of your questions in your initial consultation to put you at ease.
